Lucy’s Update

Welcome to our Spring edition 2024

Wow, where has the year gone already! You may have noticed that we have now moved to bring you a quarterly newsletter in line with the seasons but we will still use this network to share any relevant communications in-between.  I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you that were able to provide feedback in response to the ‘Ask Three Questions’ communications that we sent out earlier this month.  I will keep you updated as this progresses. At the end of 2023, I shared with you the news of our J9 work to be delivered for Epping Forest District Council as part of Operation Minerva, this has now come to and end, but seamlessly transitions into J9 Essex.  We have already scheduled dates for the 1hr awareness session focused on creating Safe Spaces within our Essex communities.  This training is ideal for the Retail and Hospitality industry as well as groups and organisations that provide a public interfacing service. Please click on the below image to access the available dates.

Our 2024 training is up and running with new content, data and legislation references which we will continue to build through out the year.  Which is why we are pleased to bring back our Tilting the Axis – Domestic Abuse & Family Court Enhanced Awareness session and Domestic Abuse & Extra Familial Harm (new dates highlighted below).

We hope you manage to take a break over the Easter Holidays and we would love to hear from you on how our training is helping to make a difference for your workplace and/or community, so please do reach out to us via our email .

Best regards

What Can I Do?

Community Advocate Reception

This month we held our first Community Advocate Reception, who range from businesses and organisations from both the public and private sectors; all with a unique and powerful reach into their own workforces and communities. Our event celebrated and recognised the commitment they have shown to awareness, prevention and early intervention of domestic abuse, through policy development, training and campaigns, to sharing their bespoke skills and resources.

We were privileged to have three of our Community Advocates speak about why they came to Alpha Vesta, how we have supported them with their workforce culture and response to domestic abuse and what value this has added to their organisation. All three Advocates talked about how members of their workforce, customers or clients have opened up and benefited from the offer of support far earlier in their journey.

We are so proud to be working alongside so many committed businesses and organisations and we were over the moon with the success of the event and grateful to all those that were able to join us and to the Essex Community Foundation for providing the venue.

Whether you are a high street business, a corporate employer or a charity organisation, if you are interested in becoming an Alpha Vesta Community Advocate, please do contact us for more information.

You could be that one person on the right day, at the right time that changes the course of someone’s life.
